Kassel Mission
Description of the highest group loss in WW
II, 27 September 1944, when the 445th lost 29 of 35 bombers on a mission to
Kassel, Germany. The Germans lost 29 fighters, and one P-51 was lost in a
head-on collision with a Luftwaffe plane. Oral history accounts of
