FORTHCOMING EVENTS

VILLAGE CINEMA  Sat 28th March - BRIDESHEAD REVISITED (12A) 7.30pm

Our Cinema Nights are continuing to prove very popular, and after the "sell out" success of "Mamma Mia !" and rave reviews for both "The Duchess" and "Miss Pettigrew…" we have two more cracking films lined up for February and March. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was one of the Big Hits of 2008. It is a moving film about childhood and tells the story of two 8 year old boys who grow up on opposite sides of the fence in World War 2. Brideshead Revisited is the acclaimed 2008 film version of Evelyn Waugh's classic tale of forbidden love and the loss of innocence. It stars Matthew Goode and Ben Whishaw and includes a brilliant performance from Emma Thompson. For those of you who haven't yet been to one of our film nights we can promise you a real taste of " The Big Screen" right here in the Village, and it's much cheaper than going into Norwich too ! Tickets are £4 if booked and paid for in advance - or £5 on the door. Call Judi Mackie on 01379 677066 to book now.

Village Cinema is run in conjunction with Village Screen & Creative Arts East

VILLAGE QUIZ NIGHT Friday 3rd April - 7.30pm

Our Quiz Nights are always fun, and always popular - and we are really lucky to have both an ace quiz master in Alan, and our very own Carol Vorderman in Sheila Gardner to help calculate the scores. So why not make up a Team (max. 6 people) or simply come along on the night and join up with others ? There's good beer and wine on tap, plus the usual nibbles on the table. All for the bargain price of just £2 a head. For more info or to reserve a table contact Judi on 01379 677066.

MAY DAY CEILIDH Saturday 2nd May 7.45 pm By popular demand ! So successful was last year's Summer Ceilidh that we have lined up another one - this time to coincide with the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

With award winning Ceilidh band Happy Feet once again providing the entertainment we can promise you a truly memorable evening - complete with foot tapping music, great dancing, a grand buffet and bar.

CEILIDH TICKETS are £8.50 for adults, £5 for U16's. Family Tickets also available ( 2 adults and 2 children) for £24. And remember last year was a sell out, so please book early. Please call Judi on 01379 677066 to buy your tickets.

SUMMER FLOWER & PRODUCE SHOW Saturday June 13th Entries 10am - 12.30pm. Open to Public 2pm - 4.30 pm. WI Teas on sale throughout the afternoon.

As usual we're holding our Summer Flower and Produce Show to coincide with Tibenham's Soapbox Derby and Summer Festival. Elsewhere in the Newsletter you will find an Entry Schedule showing all the different classes you can enter. It's a really fun day, and is aimed at EVERYONE. So if you've got green fingers, or enjoy home baking, or are into arts and crafts why not check out the Schedule and give it a go. There's a Cup for the person with the most points (TIP - the more classes you enter the more chance you have of winning !) AND a separate Cup for The Best in Show. That could be anything from a tasty pot of jam to a crispy looking lettuce !

JAZZ ON THE GRASS Sunday July 19th 12 noon til 4pm. Music from 1pm

Always popular, and always sunny (well, so far anyway !) so why not come along and enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon of New Orleans style jazz in the company of Nigel Peet and the Climax Jazz Band. Bring a picnic, and a couple of chairs (or borrow ours !) and sit back and enjoy an afternoon of smooth sounding jazz. There will be beer and wine on tap - or glasses of Pimms for those who'd prefer. In the unlikely (!) event of rain - we will simply head inside Tickets available from Ann Gooderham 01379 677289 / "Railtons" 01379 677190 and from other Committee members Prices: £6.50 each or £15 for Family Tickets (2 adults,2 children)
